How did you get into Anime

Decon

I got interested in anime by watching one of GRarkada's old reviews that popped up as a recommended video for no apparent reason. Thanks youtube algorithms :P

Saw ergo proxy on tv one day. Thought it was interesting

Then they started airing Hellsing and that's when i realized that this was not really kids cartoons.

Still not that into it. And there needs to be a really good show on before i even consider watching it.

There was an itasha thread on one of the automotive forums I read at the time. I thought the owners have to be pretty passionate about it to put it all over their cars, so I decided to give it a shot. I liked Ghibli films and Ghost in the Shell, but Haruhi hooked me pretty good to where I enjoy following the airing shows now.

I watched Cowboy Bebop In 2003 (or 2004) and never thought about anime after I finished watching it.

Now my wife is persuading me to watch more.

Only naruto and bleach and in my childhood DBZ.

I dislike the anime culture these days because of the constant 'go watch this, go watch that go watch this', it never ends, also the weeaboo's, not to forget the elitism

Toonami played Cowboy Bebop: The Movie one summer when I was younger, and that got me interested. Then my friend showed me Deathnote, Angel Beats, Elfen Lied, and a couple others.

Step up, you fools.

Watched a few anime when I was a kid. Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, Medabots etc but never even understood that they were from Japan.

Started hanging out on a forum where anime was posted all the time, got curious, watched a few shows and got hooked.

A friend recommended I watch Kill La Kill.

Do not start watching anime by watching Kill La Kill.

In all seriousness though, when I started watching it, it was so insane I got intrigued and watched some more shows. :P I think if I were to re-watch KLK now I might pick up on a lot more of the jokes and/or references that passed over my head the first time.

Just finished Durarara like 15 minutes ago, the next few shows I plan on watching according to friends' recommendations are Tokyo Ghoul, Akame Ga Kill, Mirai Nikki, and Sword Art Online(though I've heard season 2 of SAO is a massive let-down).

Also everybody should watch Gintama. Holy Jesus I love that show.

I have always like Ginga's so when i went to my second degree educational. I found couple friend's that watched Anime and i start to hang with those. Because there wasn't other decent dude's for me. So when they talked and watch it. I start to interest also because i wanted also talk that. So first what they recomended for me was Hellsing and Hellsing ova. Then i watch blood+ and Black Bullet. And i was hooked, it's a shame that i don't have the time now day's to talk those friend's or even watch anime.

Failure is not an option!

I got some Fullmetal Alchemist manga for my birthday one time and I eventually found the anime (and many others)

I got sent to prison after following Linus' instructions to #Makebombs

Forum's resident nihilist.

A JRPG just wouldn't be a JRPG if it didn't end with teenagers using the power of friendship to kill God.

I was hanging around on LTT, started collecting some anime series' names what I thought would be interesting. Did the same on 9gag (yes... But no need to hate me over that): whenever there was an image of some anime, I picked the name from the comment section if it seemed interesting. After few months of doing that, finally decided to start with something somewhere on September, picked one series at random which turned out to be Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (also the first actual manga what I've ever read, but started reading after watching the anime adaptation), and ever since I've been watching anime. Haven't really watched too many series yet, but I've only been consciously watching anime for just a few months, and so far only finished just a few serieses.

I have watched some anime that shipped on TV back when I was a little kid (nearly all of them were dubbed in Finnish though, and looking back at the quality of the dubs... Oh god... That's so horrible. I'm fine with good dubs, but every Finnish dub was terrible, although at the time I didn't acknowledge that as I was still very young), but back then I didn't know they were from Japan, or even called anime. I guess I took them as the same, but a little different looking cartoons as everything else on TV was.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

My first time was when I was 13 years old in the winter months of 1997. As a child I was largely left to my own devices and machinations, this included when I chose to sleep. My parents found it to be the most effective methodology for me as an individual I suppose. In any event we had one of the old analogue Sky systems and it was a Friday night. I remember the day of the week with clarity as I stayed awake longer on Fridays due to the weekday school cycle. I was watching the SciFi channel and it was approximately 11pm when this magical thing came on. I'd watched cartoons before but this was different. It was aimed at adults! I could not believe it, I found it amazing and breathtaking all at the same time. My tiny mind was in a state of absolute awe. The show was Tecnhi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki

I recall one of the first thoughts I had about anime at that time as being; if special effects/the scope of what the director is capable of conceiving in movies is constrained by budget/physics then in anime; being a cheaper production medium unconstrained by the laws of currently known physics would therefore then surly provide a much richer canvas for ideas and expressions to be realized in.

From that point onwards I was hooked. I would leave my PC running all night long downloading all kinds of anime over 56k dial up  I consider it to be partly responsible (along with MMOs) for helping me to get through a childhood of abuse.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.
