I need assistance with GIMP

I know this is a really odd thing to ask, but i am being serious when i ask this, I need someone to teach me some things about gimp, I can not pay you, And yea, I could look up videos, Google, Ect. But i need hands on experience and i can't do that with videos, It is not how my mind teaches itself, If anyone can help me please PM me your Skype. Thank you for your time.

What kind of things do you need help with? Maybe a general overview might help.

I am mainly looking for simplistic, yet elegant things, Such as a lava border and what not and a few other things. When i make a Border, i want the corners to have a line going from the top into the inside of the border, it's an option somewhere...
