Samsung releases 11.8mm thick Series 9 2015 (Core M, Retina, 3.5mm jack!)

dizmo

I'm quite worried about the Intel Core M.

I've seen 1-2 reviews of laptops/ultrabooks using it and they haven't been too positive about it.

It really only works if you're browsing the web, listening to music, editing text files ,etc. Try anything a little demanding(like even Chrome with more than 5 tabs or so open, IE and Firefox don't have issues) and you're going to meet some quite heavy throttling.

i5 4670k @ 4.2GHz (Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo); ASrock Z87 EXTREME4; 8GB Kingston HyperX Beast DDR3 RAM @ 2133MHz; Asus DirectCU GTX 560; Super Flower Golden King 550 Platinum PSU;1TB Seagate Barracuda;Corsair 200r case.

Looks nice.

Too bad Samsung stopped releasing PCs in Europe, I always liked their design.

Personally, however, I rather prefer a surface pro 3 than an ultrabook

Surface pro 4*

A refresh with Core M cpus surely has to be just around the corner

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Just curious, why?

This is considerably lighter, has a much better trackpad and keyboard, better battery life...

Impressive specs but why did they get rid of the tear drop shape where the ports are? It's looks much uglier now. Also 700 nit brightness? That can't be right.

Amazon accidentally listed the product (no idea if it still up) and they listed the CPU in the laptop as an Apple A4 @ 0.8 Ghz. Not sure what that was about, but I am pretty confident it has a Broadwell-Y chip in it.

Edit: The Amazon page is no longer up, but The Verge had a screencap: Screen_Shot_2014-12-30_at_1.26.20_PM.0.p

1) Core M was meant to be the bridge chip for 2 in 1s, not be a production item like a U-series.

2a) Those 2 products had shitty thermal solutions due to the rush to market.

2b) Independent engineers proved Lenovo and Asus both screwed up and that Intel delivered a chip to the desired specs exactly.

Phones have been thinner for many years and nothing like that has happened ;)

I know it was just a shot at it being "too thin", but if it performs as suggested then I see 0 reasons for it to be trolled.

700 nit? What's that?

The brightness of the display. 1 nit is equivalent to 1 candle.
