I don't think either necessarily better then the other. It depends what you intend to do, what your budget is and then personal preference.

We've had this discussion 8x10^55454587786445347867586475347867867 times.

It ends in a locked thread, because fanboys from either camp are being retarded.

So don't.

It really depends on your usage scenario, and your budget. However, for me intel is the better choice.

Let's not ;)

4.1 Trolling

This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Creating threads for the sole purpose of causing unrest on the forums

I will leave this open as long as things remain civil and constructive.  This topic can be a good discussion and I don't think we should avoid it altogether, as long as people keep the forum code of conduct in mind and be respectful to each other.

I've been biased towards Intel to a certain degree but lately Intel has been disappointing me and now I'm keeping my eye on the AMD side for a bit.

The way I've always seen it:

AMD

- best bang for buck. Not expensive, good performance.

- APUs. Probably the best thing to come from AMD. Great for gaming on iGPU, and potentially crossfiring it with another AMD card.

Intel

- best performance (subjective). In terms of raw computing power though, I've only seen benchmarks where Intel outstrips AMD.

- higher cost. Potentially better investment.

- iGPU is acceptable (as of HD4000 and beyond). Haswell's iGPU is pretty impressive.

Which one I recommend is largely based on budget and typical usage.

I have Intel since it was cheaper than AMD at the time. I would go either AMD or Intel as long it it does what I need and is at a good price point.
