Buying a new monitor

Hi all, I'm planning to upgrade my gaming monitor; I'm coming from a Samsung Syncmaster 2232GW (22" TN, 60hz, 16:10, 1680x1050).

I apologize if this has been covered to some extent in other topics but reading through them confuses me even more.

In a nutshell, I play on both PC and console, my PC can run my games at around 100 fps on average, and I play FPS games.

Here's what I play on PC and the average FPS I get with my current build:

- CoD MW3 - 91 fps (capped?)
- CS:GO - 260 fps (capped at 300)
- Crysis 2 - 100 fps (capped?)
- Dota 2 - 120 fps (capped?)
- HAWKEN - 90 fps
- ArcheAge - 111 fps
- Lords of the Fallen - 85 fps
- Portal 2 - 200 fps
- The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - 100 fps

I also play on PS4:
- Killzone: Shadowfall
- MGS: Ground Zeroes
- Dead Nation
- Diablo 3
- Towerfall Ascension
- Trine 2
- Fez
- Outlast

I've narrowed my options down to the ff. as they're the ones available in the local stores from where I am, please help me choose the best one:

TN 120hz+

Btw, 27" at 1080p is a non-issue for me. Thanks for your inputs!

My wallet is a bottleneck. Someone help me overclock this.

I think IPS monitor is not good at FPS games. (might cause ghosting)

It uses basically the same panel, it's just designed a little better. It's a luxury item among luxury items. I didn't mind shelling out the money for one since they were using the monitors at Blizzcon, Benq supports something I like, I support them, ya-know?

CoD as far as I know is frame-capped for online play, but 90fps is still a very noticable improvement over 60hz. If you're gaming at 1080p, and you're using the monitor exclusively for gaming, 144Hz is the way to go IMHO. For any online shooter, it's nice being able to see things clearly in motion. I have observed a big improvement even in a game like Dota, or Starcraft (My UI doesn't tear in SC2 now :D), and honestly, it looks good enough for gaming

Hey guys thanks for the responses. Unfortunately, the XL2430T isn't available locally only the XL2420T.

Though, I just found out that another 120+hz model is available locally and within my budget: Benq XL2411Z.

So, now the question is:

or

http://gaming.benq.com/gaming-monitor/xl2411z/ <<< this is 18USD cheaper.

P.S. I'm leaning towards the XL2420T lol.

My wallet is a bottleneck. Someone help me overclock this.

Alright, well it seems you're more leaning towards TN monitors for their higher refresh rates. Anything by BenQ is usually pretty good, I don't believe that you can go wrong with them. ;)

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

Well tough luck turns out the XL2420T is currenty out of stock. Is the XL2411Z worth buying instead?
