Intel 4460 or fx 8350?

So I wanna make a  gaming build and i will some very small rendering and now i am not quite sure which of these build options I should go for, because they both cost pretty much the same (amazon.de)

 

 

1. AMD FX 8350 (fake-) octa core and ASROCK fatal1ty killer 990fx am3+

 

2. Intel core i5 4460 and Gigabyte G1 Sniper Z97/Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3(this ones cheaper, it depends on the budget that I am going to have)

 

the gpu will be a gtx 970 if  i am lucky and if not then probably a r9 285 (cuz the Corsair CX600watt couldnt handle e.g. 280x Crossfire) and crossfire it later.

 

EDIT: will be using CM hyper 212 evo

I would go with the 8350. It performances better at rendering then the i5.

K, with that out of the way, I'd go with the i5 4460.

if your going to upgrade to i7 later go for the i5 if not go for the 8350 and OC it

if you are going to go with a locked intel quad core, get a xeon E3-12xx V3 as they have hyper-threading and lower power consumption (and lower heat output) for the price of an i5.

 

otherwise, get the 8350/8320.

Get the 4460 and use the 970 for rendering.

would still vote Intel, if you decided later you needed an i7/xeon/broadwell there's a clear upgrade path on Z97/H97

you're thinking about i7's with their Hyperthreading technology. AMD octa cores have 8 physical cores, intels hyperthreading tech uses 4 cores laced together so it effectively doubles the core count, while maintaining the same reliability as quads

the i5 play games much better, use less energy and will cost the same if you consider motherboard cost and aftermarket CPU cooler to overclock the AMD. Intel is the way to go for gaming.

correct, an overclocked FX is a good match for a radeon R9 280X or GTX 770 maximum. a core i5 will handle a GTX 980 without limiting the performance in most games even at 1080p.

I5 for sure but you don't need a z97 for a locked i5.
