Question about dirty ear pads

A few weeks ago, I was sick and my ears oozed a fluid.

I stopped using my headphones (dt 990 pros) until I got better, but not before I got a part of the ear pad wet from the fluid.

It has since dried up and crusted. 

 

I am better now and my question is this:

 

What, if any, is the best way to clean them?

What, if any, is the best way to clean them?

Are they leather or the sport material? I personally soak my earpads (g430) in water with some detergent and after that hang them to dry after rinsing. Not sure whether you can do that to leather .

I use a headset corsair vengeance 1500 and i just use this liquid for cleaning clothes + a piece of cloth and voila! They not only smell nice but look new.

 

Also, ew.
