How good is this PC for just general light use?

EcoBoost

Hey guys, my mom wants to get an AIO to replace her aging desktop. Not that her current desktop isn't enough power for her, but she just likes the look of AIOs and wants to reduce the clutter of having a tower, all those wires, blah blah blah

Anyways, all she does really is go on the internet and watch YouTube videos and read the news and stuff. She currently has a PC with an Athlon X2 5200+ and 3GB of RAM, so anything better then that is fine. She wants it to be 20+ inches in screen size, so I found this one available locally: http://www.staples.ca/en/Acer-All-In-One-Desktop-DQSYMAA001-183GHz-Celeron-N2930-4GB-RAM-1TB/product_1274053_2-CA_1_20001

Acer Aspire Z1

Intel Celeron N2930

4GB RAM

1TB HDD

Would it be a decent AIO for the price?

Desktop: Intel Core i5 2380P (2400 w/o iGPU), MSI H61, 8GB RAM, 256GB SP610, 500GB WD Blue, HIS R9 280, Antec TruePower Classic 550W, Inwin MANA 134, QNIX QX2710, CM QuickFire Rapid, Logitech G402

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite L40D, AMD A6-6310, 6GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Radeon R4 Graphics, 14" 1366x768

Phone: iPhone 6 Space Gray 64GB, T-Mobile $60/mo 3GB plan

My mother does the same stuff with a laptop with an N2830, and she has no speed complaints. So with that, I think you will be fine. It's not amazing for the price, but most AIOs aren't.

Well yeah, but was wondering how good of an AIO it is for the price, because when talking about how good of a computer it is for the price it's pretty crap and I would have just built one :P

I'd be building my own, but if's she is set on an AIO, replace the HDD with an SSD and light use will be flawless!

If she needs to hold a lot of data, use an external if the SSD isn't big enough.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

For the ~$500, it seems like a good choice when compared to other options. For around $600, you're looking at refurb i3 based models and new Pentium based models on Newegg, while you're looking at less powerful Celeron models for the same amount.

Because that would negate the whole point lol, she got a new desk and doesn't like how the tower goes with it, she just wants an AIO for womanly reasons that I'm not able to get past. Like I said it wouldn't make a difference if I built a new one because her current tower is already adequate.

Hey guys, my mom wants to .... reduce the clutter of having a tower, all those wires....

She could get a tablet and not have to deal with a tower, wires, or a desk.   :P

Tablets do all that with ease, and the interfaces (Android or iOS) are typically pretty elegant.

Yeah she needs to hold a lot man, don't ask why cause it's really stupid, but trust me she won't get out of the habit. The 500GB in the current PC is full.

Yeah but she doesn't need more power then her current Athlon X2, she just wants size reduced (tower gone)

She has a tablet, but she still likes using the computer a lot more for web browsing. Honestly I can't argue. I try going on this site on my phone and tablet and it drives me nuts

Well an external still covers all that.. 1/2/3/4TB external USB3.0 :)

SSD ftw - Because AIO's that are cheap, don't have performance parts, and the (5400 or 7200) HDD WILL be the limiting factor for being as fast as it 'should' be.

But more cost thoooo

It's gonna be around $100 to get a 120GB SSD and an enclosure to put the 1TB drive it came with in to use as an external (both bought locally cause my mom doesn't like ordering stuff)

Do it regardless of the small extra cost,...or be suffering disappointment, she'll come to you saying it's slow, especially when Windows gets bloated.

SSD is the cure, the external is the saving grace.

Put a little more money in, everyone will have a better experience with that machine.

^In reference to that machine in your OP.

Her PC is currently running off a traditional HDD that's 6 years old and pretty much full, she's fine with the speed tbh

May I humbly suggest you buy a NUC and a monitor with a VESA mount and make your own AIO? It'll be a much better system and you won't get ripped off with AIO prices. This is your best option.

NUC is an Intel based 4x4" system that is designed for desktop or to be mounted to the back of a monitor. It is the smalles PC X86 form factor out there. Acer is horrible quality anyways. Don't get her that AIO. BUild yourself a NUC. They come with CPU and mobo. You add RAM, wifi card, storage.

Intel Inside. Overweight guy in his 30's outside.
