Hey guys, im in Canada just like Linus! And we have boxing day its kinda like black friday everything gets slashed in prices and i want to pick up a monitor then because i currently have a shitty 768p monitor and a gtx 970... i know right embarrassing.. so yeah either im thinking of getting a 1440p monitor with 60hz or a 1080p with 144hz refresh rate. LEMME KNOW YOUR GUYS' PREFERENCE down below and if you can please write what your reasoning is!!! Thanks and also does anyone care about 3D gaming? Is that even a thing? Is it worth it? I mean im genuinely intruiged by how that would feel to be honest... i mean if it works like how i picture it in my head it sounds VERY COOL but i mean anyone have experience with that lemme know down below and thanks!  :D

how about 144Hz @ 1080p?

Yeah im down for that if you have any suggestions for which monitor that would be great! The cheaper the better but i mean hopefully not an ugly monitor... im looking at the acer monitor with 3d and 144hz 1080p

I'd go for 1440p 60Hz, I prefer having a larger amount of pixels on my screen (meaning I can fit more stuff on my screen at once), and am willing to sacrifice a higher refresh rate. (Currently using a shitty 1680x1050 monitor)

144hz monitors are all TN. If you're a serious gamer who needs serious refresh rates, then get that (there are some pretty good 144hz tn monitors, but they're expensive ex. ROG Swift, or even the BenQ XL series). If you're a casual gamer though, go for an IPS/PLS 1440p monitor. 60z isn't bad. You can even overclock if you want to. Plus they look nicer.

120/144hz monitors (excluding rog swift) are only worth it if you are a professional gamer, or are just really competitive with a game like csgo.

1440p@60 over 1080p@144p because more pixels produces a more enveloping image for gaming and is better for getting work done when you aren't gaming. I personally don't know the difference beyond about 80hz on a monitor, and don't find the difference that important, especially when most monitors can be clocked at 77 hz or so if they are a 60hz panel

I think you should get one that has a high refresh rate, it helps you get more than 60fps in games

For gaming that becomes personal preference, due to all 144hz monitors being TN, I'd rather go with a 1440p 60Hz IPS monitor as I prefer accurate colors with good viewing angles.

i would say 1440p 60hz ips (get one of the 21:9 lgs if you have the budget, that is like the best)

or get a rog swift, personally that's the ultimate gaming monitor

or 1440p ips monitors are like 400$, if you can still find cyber monday deals get a cheap 4k monitor

144Hz vs 60Hz is comparable to watching a regular TV show and then all of a sudden Numb3rs comes on and everything looks smoother than butter.

Racing games become more responsive. FPS becomes a fast paced action movie that you can barely keep up with, while playing.

Everything becomes so much more natural and responsive. I would take a 1080p 144Hz monitor over a 4k 60Hz monitor any day (even if my little 760 could run 4k 60fps)

317 is watching. 317 is everywhere. 317 is life.

Hmmmmm interesting responces guys! HAHAH guess this is one of those things that is hugely subjective! I think im leaning more towards the 1080p 144hz over 1440p but then again i come right back in the middle hahah well atleast i have 2 weeks to decide what i want hopefully ill know by then!
