So,I'm using chrome right now and it is lagging a lot with 18 tabs open with 6gb's of ram, as I don't really want to upgrade what other browser would you recommened

Trust me, you wouldn't want Firefox. It uses as much as 2GB in one sitting. But there are other alternatives like Maxathon and Midori. Or even try Opera.

Chrome > Firefox > IE

 

you can also try enabling hardware acceleration in chrome, it makes it way faster.

  • Waterfox (64 bit Firefox)
  • Maxthon
  • Iron (Based on Chromium, but sends no data to Google)
  • IE. Seriously. It's good.
  • Opera (Fantastic browser, used it for a number of years.)

You can't say that Chrome is definitely better than Firefox.  Yes, it is slightly faster, but Firefox uses WAY less RAM per tab.

Umm. guess again. Chrome actually uses less for me. It only adds up to like 1.3GB usage, while FF uses 1.9.

I actually have 16GB of RAM, so I'm glad to have chrome use a couple GB of it.

The more chrome uses, the faster my browsing experience is.

 

Of course people short on system resources would have problems, but with no bottlenecks chrome is the best in terms of functionality and speed.

I used to open 30-40 tabs a couple of years ago. Now i keep it 10 max.

I'm surprised FF beat out IE. Shocking. Guess IE has a certain threshold it has to reach until it crashes. But no wonder FF crashes when I wake up in the morning.

So,I'm using chrome right now and it is lagging a lot with 18 tabs open with 6gb's of ram, as I don't really want to upgrade what other browser would you recommened

Internet Explorer if you don't need plug-ins or development tools(like the F12 menu in Chrome), but if you need those things then Mozilla Firefox. FireFox and Chrome tend to flip-flop around with problems, so its good to have them both installed and switch to the other when one stops working.
