Well that kinda works in my favor then, I currently use an old ass 19 inch ish 1600 x 1200 Monitor running at 1280 x 1024

Indeed. Minecraft is not an exclusive. In fact, it's available on Windows, Xbox 360, Android, and iOS.

Don't forget the "Wheezy" raspberry pi os! 

But yeah, the fact they showed it off on a windows machine isn't really a big deal
