AMD R9 295x2 price down to $650

Apexis

They did that with the ITX GTX 760 and then built a MARS card around it.

That actually makes a ton of sense, touche.

Consumption does matter. A card drawing 500 watts is absurd, no matter how you slice it.

Do you mean a card or a single GPU?

should we be talking about 1 295x2 card and 2 970s for a more apples to apple comparison?

Half load 24/7.

12 hours of gaming a day is still really unrealistic

Finally my Santa hat doesn't look out of place

If you don't pay for electricity then sure, get the 295x2.

..... I want this, my computer runs off of solar so I don't need to worry about power costs

Just thought these comments needed to be together. :D

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P

Not really. 18 hrs per day weekends and 6 hrs per day weekdays is about what it takes to be a competition gamer. That said, I'm on the compute side.

I think dual gpu cards are mainly beneficial for mini-itx since you only have one pcie lane available.  I wish someone could make the Mini-dtx form factor popular so I can crossfire my 290x :(

Eh who cares? Most of the big enthusiasts already had it and the lesser home builders don't want to mess with anything involving a water loop. Now we have the 900 series launched, the Titan II/Prometheus or 980TI on the way and the eventual dual card that will bring along. I can't imagine AMD is making a profit on these anymore either.

I sure love all the hypothetical scenarios where this card is a bad value...

It's like that for all aspects of tech these days, so many firmly held beliefs that rest upon fallacious information, unrealistic scenarios, general assumptions and basic ignorance.

If you read these threads long enough you can be forgiven for thinking everyone is a:

professional software engineer

professional super computer architect

professional gamer

professional pc builder

GPU designer/engineer

console creator

game developer

human biologist/researcher

lawyer/judge  in the supreme court

and the list goes on...

Also it's easier to be an ignorant fanboy because you only really get attacked by fanboys from the other side, but if you sit on the fence you get attacked by everybody.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.
