I'm probably being a n00b, though I'm usually pretty good at navigating random UI but for the life of me I cant find the search functionality on this forum - does it exist? or do I just use a custom google query?

People really read the "Forum News & Info" section a lot. It was removed for a few reasons. Also, you need to put "site:linustechtips.com <your query>" to get any decent results.

It's taking a break because it was causing some back end issues. It will probably be coming back at some point, but for now it is unavailable.

Instead, please use a google search for site:linustechtips.com <query>
