Good Temps for i5 4690K @ 3.7GHz

Ariona

I just got my i5 4690K along with MB and set everything up. got drivers installed, Windows, programs etc, etc,  My temps are reading from around 37C-45C with my cooler. I used a CM hyper T4 with Arctic Silver 5.  I didn't want to keep a high OC no higher then 4.0GHz.  Are these temps ok? my old AMD FX 6350 @ 4.5GHz got this hot but isn't intel suppose to be cooler ?

A final note this is with a 65-70% CPU load on Compressing a 21GB mod.

Perfectly fine.  What voltages?

AMD cpus actually run cooler than Intel CPUs; and why such a light overclock? You can easily push it much further and as long as you stay under 80ºc you're good.

Why get a K part if you don't plan to go past 4GHz :P 4GHz is...so low O.o

My cooler is air and I rather take my CPUs lifespan into consideration.  Also I think maybe it has something to do with my CPU not wanting to lighten up at idle.  I still need to configure the ECO mode.

I may go higher but I just don't trust this damn cooler, Fudge sake it moves slightly when fully latched onto the brackets ;/  I plan to get 4.3-4.5 Later when I get a nicer cooler or a watter cooler, The new NZXT krakens look lovely for my Black/Blue theme I hear mixed opinions on the H100i

Overclock it yourself, it's easy; all you have to do is change two/three settings. Set the voltage to fix (not adaptive). Then set the voltage to 1.30v and the multiplier to 42 and stress; then push the multiplier up and once you find the highest stable multiplier then just lower the voltage looking for the lowest stable voltage.

As for cpu degredation....it's really not an issue. So long as you stay below 1.30v and keep temps under 80º~ at full load, it will last LONG past when you're ready to replace it.

You should stress it in Aida 64.

its normal for the hyper212 to move its the way its made

take it right to 4.0 @ 1.170-1.180V if it will do it

If you want black/blue theme, go for the Cooler Master Seidon 240M for only $70!

Same exact stats as the H100i without any mounting issues, noisy pump, or buggy software.  Cheaper too!

Got one! Love it! 4670K at 4.5 ghz 24/7. And the nepton keeps it cool.

Highly recommend!
