Glossy - Shiney

Matte - not Shiney.

Matte is better because light does not reflect off the surface of the monitor

TBH it is personal preference, I like matte as I am right next to a window and I can't stand the reflections.

It depends on what YOU prefer

Matte gets rid of at least some of the glare off the monitor from lights behind you, but it can result in a grainy looking coating that is visible especially on evenly coloured surfaces. A mild matte finish is generally the way to go.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

Oh a glossy surface, the colors look better and more vibrant, on the matte monitor, the colors look more dull and not as vibrant. This is probably because theirs a coating on top of it. Yes, this applies to IPS monitors are well, not just TN.

I have glossy and because the shine doesn't shine directly against it, it isn't a problem.

If you have sun directly on it: Matte. If not: Glossy could do, but matte is great because you don't get fingerprints all over it.

If you play games during the day, go matte. I have glossy and its impossible to play games like metro last light during the day.
