What should i look for in a set of headphones?

Hey guys, i am just wondering what i should look for in a set of headphones for gaming and music listening? i am by no means an audiophile, but i do want an enjoyable listening experience. also, can you guys recommend some decent headphones for around $150.


CPU Intel I7-4700MQ @2.4 ghz, turbos to 3.4 

Motherboard  whatever toshiba put in the thing

RAM 8GB 1600mhz 

GPU  Nvidia Geforce GT 740M  

Storage 750Gb 5400rpm   

Cooling  Crappy laptop fan 

Operating System  windows 8 64 bit

I believe that at that price range most people are going to recommend these.

Please no. They are not worth what they're asking for that. $60 less and they're a good deal. Unless you just have money to burn and don't care for what you get for your money :P

Sennheiser always has something decent. I'm not going to recommend You one since i am an audiophile.

I Just can't recommend a product that i'm not satisfied with.

Open cans are generally really comfy and sound great. The ATH-AD500X and HD558 would be nice for gaming due to their wide soundstage and accurate mids/highs. Beyerdynamic DT990 if you want a ton of bass (some people think it adds to "immersion") but you might have to hunt to keep it under budget, and depending on impedance might need an amp.
