Both, I like to play Ultra at 60fps, obviously if playing on lower end hardware I I will drop details down, but I would rather play on medium 30fps, than low 60fps

Like most things in life, it's all about balance.

Unless you're playing competitively, or the game is just super fun.

I still love the original StarCraft.

Your poll is confusing though. Do you mean higher as in 70 or 80 fps, or like the difference between 40 and barely playable to 60 and smooth?

Depends on the type of game, sometimes ultra and 35-40 FPS is perfectly fine for certain types of games, while I do prefer the 40+ fps more. For example I run Shadow of Mordor all on high (textures medium) and it looks great and runs at 60 FPS (sometimes drops to 50). The graphics look good enough so I have no need to push further, I'd rather keep 60 FPS.

Same goes for shooters/FPS games, I like to keep the framerate high at the cost of quality, so 60 FPS at least. Sometimes even lowering these types of games to minimum clears the screen of some "beauty" elements and makes enemies easier to spot. :D
But strategy and slower games are perfectly playable at ultra and 30 FPS. It's all down to your own choice and what you feel is best for you.
My old roommate played Assassins creed Black Flag at 15-20 FPS and completed the game, that's some determination and nerves of steel right there! :D

bit of a strange poll. . . but i think anyone using a 60hz monitor will use  a congif of the highest possible graphics that runs locked at 60. I'd assume people with 120 hz do something similar.

It really depends on the type of game. If it's an FPS then I absolutely need 60fps, otherwise I get a headache if I play too long. If it's something like a turn based game it doesn't bother me as much if the frame rate is lower.I tend to not like going below 40fps though on any game if I can help it.

The option "depends on the game" is missing.

Online games? FPS. Single player games? Just lemme appreciate all your beauty!

It really depends on the type of game. I mostly only play single player games, so I would rather have high quality at around 45fps+.

If I get involved in a game i wont notice 45fps, but anything below starts to irritate me.

I always go by the philosophy

gameplay anything (even graphics)

Would rather have a solid game with shitty graphics then a ok game with amazing graphics.
