Toyota aygo and 5 people

aurrorax

So yeah, I recently got the privilege of driving a car however my Dad keeps saying that I should not have 3 people in the back and 2 people in the front (including me) in our toyota aygo because the car is simply not powerful and strong enough to carry this weight, I think he is just  trying to scare me into being too overly cautious

Any opinions / experiences ?

Car specs : http://www.topgear.com/uk/toyota/aygo/spec/18468 it does have airbags tho :P

Thanks in Advance.

If there is 5 seats with seatbelts, the car is made to handle the weight. Don't be scared. Here in the Netherlands everybody drives small cars like the aygo and never heard anything like the car couldn't handle the weight. Just make sure you don't drive in too high gears!

edit: you live in the Netherlands as well!!! :)

68 bhp from a 1l 3 cyl engine? At least it's light with just 800 kg.

It can certainly go with 5 people on board, that's not the problem. But you will have even worse accellaration than it has already however it will do it just fine. Its probably also no good for driving in mountains or off road. And/Or you should drive slower. biggrin.png

A BMW M5 would be the better choice.

who cares...

The netherlands is basically flat, and I don't really care about acceleration being EVEN MORE HORRIBLE, AND IT IS HORRIBLE, I just need to get from A - B

I would get your friends into the car and then crash, if they all survive with you, then your dad was wrong and the car is built for 5.

What do they know of England, who only England know?

In theory max (certified) load for an Aygo is around 300kg.

300kg / 5 = 60 kg per person (including clothes and other stuff)

It'd be fine, if you have that many friends  :)  (jk)
