So how did you start and what resources did you use to learn penetration testing?

I first got started before Kali and Backtrack even existed. Just used Debian + would compile all the tools I ever needed. Now with KALI, it does most of the hard work for you.

 

I usually just try it for fun, only putting my own network through its paces, although if I'm at a hotel that charges for WiFi...

I used to use backtrack 3 but when one repo gets an update, some repo won't function anymore, what a pain. Haven't went deep, ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), yet with Kali so imma probably go back to it when I finish the topics in pentesterlab.com xD
