[STEAM] Shadow of Mordor Will NOT Launch

Humble Bee

Yesterday I started downloading shadow of mordor on steam. I left the download overnight and in the morning I saw the download had completed and tried to launch the game. When i click play in steam it seems as if nothing happens. Syncing appears next the the game name for a split second then nothing happens....

Any help is much appreciated... I have no idea what to do. Thanks

Have you tried to varify the game cache? That is usually where the issue is with Steam.

If that doesn't help, try restarting Steam.

High thanks for the advice, I gave it a try but unfortunately neither have helped my situation. It is weird as there is no error code given. Thanks for trying to help though.

I would give this a try but I have no idea of how to verify the game cache with steam. Is this an easy thing to do?

Right-click the game, select "properties"

locate the "local files" tab, locate the "verify integrity of game files" button

let steam process the game, it may take several minutes.

You may need to run steam in an elevated permissions mode (completely exit out of steam, right click your steam shortcut, and run as an administrator)

It is quite easy.

Right click the game → Click ´Properties´ → Go to the tab ´Local files´ → Press the button ´Verify integrity of the game cache´

Thank you, both of you, I just found this out by googling before looking back here. Thank you anyways. I am giving it a try now and will report back if successful :) Cheers

Something that's worked for me with similar issues has been going right into steamapp>common>[game]>x64>[game]application

I'm pretty sure its not going to give you much luck, but its a very quick and easy solution that you can try to let you get your hands on this beautiful game right away, I know the delay must be nearly killing you

I take this as saying that verifying didn't work? :/

Well, on the one-off, are your GPU drivers up to date?

here's a nice little post I found

http://www.crashwiki.com/top-10-fixes-shadow-mordor-crashes-errors-wont-start-black-screen-config-nvidia-sli-dx11-support-hd-textures-slow-mouse/

if you tried booting it right from the steamapp>common>etc. folder, and verifying integrity didn't work, try updating drivers and following the #2 in the above link
