Do you let other people's opinions bother you?

Off-off topic here, people's opinions are something that personally are probably one of the biggest deciding factors in my life... As much as i wish they weren't and i was just one of these people that couldn't give a f**k about anyone else's opinion, i'm not. My looks, my weight, my build, my height, my hobbies, things i like, things i don't like have all been things that have been commented on frequently with me, and things that i always tried to change if someone comments on them... People's opinions are basically what decide what i do and don't do.

 

Anyway i'll cut the life story there. Down to the point; do you let people's opinions bother or get on top of you... Particularly with computers and IT, if someone asks what my interest are and i say computers, they just sort of look at you like *This lad clearly has a sad life*. Even within the computing community, opinions are always flaring.

 

So, back to the point again, do you let other people's opinions on YOU bother or affect you?

If I find it annoying, false or insensitive then yes, I will generally let it bother me. Otherwise no, opinions are opinions, and as long as people don't abuse the privilege to state their own opinion, then I'm fine with them.

It depends on what the opinion is about. Sometimes I think an opinion is so fundamentally wrong that I can't resist but try and change the other guy's mind about it. Other times I just don't care at all.

Everybody does. Anybody who claims that they aren't bothered or influenced by other peoples opinions are kidding themselves.

 

I have a high degree of control with this, which tends to come with age but nobody is immune to this.
