I was just messing around with  my phone and I decided that I wanted to encrypt my device. So I wanted to ask you guys if you have encrypted your phone and if not why?

Not really. No sensitive data is on it, the stuff that is kinda sensitive is password protected, the best anyone can find is a few pictures I've received but non of them are as compromising as the fappening. :D
Other than that you can't really encrypt any data transfer from your phone as network providers use standardized equipment and they can intercept your calls and messages, the best you can do is use a VPN when using data traffic. :)

Wouldn't bother to if I knew how, NSA would just break the encryption. I know they watch me due to certain soon to be ex family members.

Lol. if that was my actual social (which is sort of a civilian serial number if you think about it), I'd be concerned. I guess the only comforting thought is that any data gathered on me would be inadmissible in court due to the familial relation I am referring to (conflict of interest). My only hope is that someone kidnaps him and hooks his balls to a car battery (because of what he did to my sister). He's lucky I didn't catch him in the act, or know about it when it happened or I'd probably have beaten him within an inch of his life. and he'd have deserved it (choked my sister during an argument IN MY HOUSE NO LESS, lucky for him my sister didn't say anything to me and just let him leave to end the situation before it got out of hand)

Edit: Lucky my father didn't know either, I'd have only kicked his ass, my dad probably would have done worse
