Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars will be an online only PC only game...only

Really not much to it except, the follow up of Sleeping dogs (Sleeping Dogs Triad Wars), will only be coming to the PC and require you to be online.

 

James Baldwin, UFG's community manager stated "for upcoming PC online game we’re making here at United Front Games, Triad Wars."

The quote was in conjunction with announcing an AMA on Monday, 12pm PST on reddit.  I guess we'll find out a bunch more then it seems.

I ain't even mad.The first game was really good and the story was ok, but what annoyed me the most was the savegame issues I had with steam, and I had to start the game over again like 15 times, so I'm down for a GTA Online-ish kind of game

So.. is there any legitimate reason for it to be Always Online only? Or is this just for DRM purpose ?
Because unless the game highly encourage multiplayer / co-op play, this is highly pointless and will do nothing other than hurt the legitimate customers. Or what, did they made a pseudo-mmo out of it?

Well judging from this I assume Triad Wars is nothing like Sleeping Dogs then (as in an open-world GTA style game).  Well it's a PC exclusive so I'm excited to hear from these guys.  Games published by western SE studios have been very nice lately.

Very little information has been revealed about it, it maybe the sort of thing that they did last time (beating each others scores and stuff) except forced on. Or maybe it's like watch dogs?
