Having worked in the back of a warehouse before, I can say it doesn't make a huge difference. A box like that costs virtually nothing and shipping it also costs virtually nothing. So, it's pretty much grab whatever happens to be near you when you're ready to prepare a shipment to go out.

This is what you call quality packing, but yea that's a bit too far for just a few tubes of thermal paste. Still better overdo than underdo it.

If you had ever seen someone load/unload a UPS truck or FedEx or whatever, you'd know why that amount of air cushions and a big box is used. They may have exaggerated a little here, but as you can see it arrived w/o any damage.

I actually don't mind that as long as it was in its original packaging too. Recycling is a good thing.
