so i had a problem with my old motherboard and decided to change it, i bought a new one and install it. but now my pc is  like a fucking machine while playing, it sounds like there is something cutting wood or any hard material, the sound is so fucking loud that my GF who is in the other room came and tell me that she thinks its gonna explode or something (and its true), the sound only come when im playing any game.

i think the sound is cuz the cpu fan, the problem is that i didnt have any sound coming from the cpu fan before. the fan is really dusty, i clean it as much as i could but its a little bit hard since i cant find something to clean it properly (i read that a compressed air should work to clean it, but i have no luck finding one in my city and i dont want to just order it by amazon). but as i said before this problem just started when i installed this new MOBO.

i know that some pcs tends to make noise while playing and so, but i dont think is normal that it makes so much noise that it annoys other people while in another room!.

im a little bit worry about this, any ideas?

what motherboard is it?

If you changed nothing but the motherboard, you likely just need to set up fan control form either the BIOS or the BIOS software suite downloadable off the manufacturers website.

Another possibility is that it's running your CPU at needlessly high voltages, causing your CPU to run warmer and therefore louder.

The first is more likely, but checking for the second is important.

You can use a bike pump with a small tip (like the one for inflating balls) to clean out the dust. It is basically compressed air, except you need to work a little :P

Also check your motherboard's bios settings and see what CPU fan is set to.

ALSO did you reapply new thermal paste when you switched motherboards???

is it the stock CPU fan? Is it PWM?

yes, its a stock cpu fan

im having problems trying to enter to the bios, it says that i need to press DEL in order to enter but it doesnt do anything, and yes i reapply thermal paste.

this is the board "ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS AM3+ AMD 760G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard"

i will look for some software in asus webpage to see if i can solve the problem.

about the second possibility what can i do the check if this is not the problem? i dont want to end up with another "fucked up" MOBO, since the old one literally just set on fire.

Are you doing it right? You have to repeatedly mash the DEL key until you get into bios, not just press it once.

Are you using a USB keyboard? With some motherboards, the USB's do not get proper power until a bit later in the boot process and you lose your window to press delete. Give it a go using a keyboard with a PS/2 port (hopefully you have one =D).

i did! :)

So my GF shows up and tell me to use my fan and try to "cool" the pc. i just enter the sims 4, the fan started to sound really bad again, i put the fan next to the pc and bum, the sound stopped.

i guess this is the problem, the cpu fan is bad.

im thinking that the problem may be that my old mobo just get to 95W and this one gets to 125W, so my old mobo just doesnt work at full capacity (since my processor is a FX4130 that needs a 125W MOBO) and now this is happening. i assume that in order to fix this i will need to buy a new cpu fan. but this is just me, and of course the problem might be that i live in a caribean country so its really hot here and this can be a problem too.

i just want to know if i need to do this ASAP or if i can wait a little bit for it, since i have spend a lot of money in these days in the pc and in other stuffs. i could of course afford a new and better cpu fan in a month or so.

No, you probably have a bad mount. The motherboard TDP rating doesn't affect how loud the system will run (and 4130 is a 95w TDP chip)

Like I said, it's either with your fan control, CPU voltage, or new to consider a poor CPU cooler mount or something about how you applied thermal paste.

actually 4130 its a 125W TDP or at least it says so here: http://cpuboss.com/cpu/AMD-FX-4130 and here http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bulldozer/AMD-FX-Series%20FX-4130.html , of course i might be wrong

i installed a tool that came with the dvd in the motherboard, it says that it can control the cpu fan but did nothing. i will try then to get to the bios and look there if theres something that can help with it.

about the other things you say it might be the problem too, since this is the 3rd time i mount a cpu fan and apply thermal paste in a processor, i will try then tomorrow to dismount the cpu fan and reapply thermal paste and of course try to get to the bios and look for it.

just one more thing, why then the cpu fan is not making any more noise when i put a big fan near the processor? can this be overheating? and if so then it might be what you said before?

when you put the fan near it, that's clearly compensating for whatever cooling issue you have there.

You need to be sure the BIOS has correct smart fan settings. It needs to be set to 4 Pin PWM or 3 pin Voltage depending on your CPU fan.

Be sure you're cleaning the paste of properly and applying a correct amount of paste and not spreading it manually before mounting the cooler.

shouldn't i spread the thermal paste? i though u need to do it by yourself using the finger.

what should i use to clean the thermal paste and how can i do it properly?

1.Dont spread it with your finger 2.use a q-tip with rubbing alcohol 3.when reapplying only use a half peasized dot in the middle of the cpu put the heatsync back on then boot it up check temps

Clean off the old thermal paste from the CPU and cooler.

When applying the new thermal paste, put a small dot in the middle of the CPU and then clamp down the cooler.
