[RUMOR] Mojang to be acquired by Microsoft (Update3, It's Official)

Rafy

This is an end of an era for me. Minecraft was not just a game about punching trees. It was a platform. It was a gigantic, edgeless box of seemingly infinite potential. A cave full of resources. It was, for me, three years worth of entertainment for only 15 dollars. But the cave is now bare. Migration is necessary once again. Pack your bags. It’s time to find another platform full of potential; another cave to dig out.

How is Notch the idiot here. He's a diabolical genius. Giving away Mojang for two and a half billion, when he knows it won't do a thing for Windows Phone sales. :P

He claims he doesn't want to deal with a company that has such a big influence such as Minecraft.

He's a sellout, that's all he is. If he really wanted out of the game, then he should have just quit and left and let Mojang be independent. But now it's in Microsoft's hands and I doubt anybody is optimistic about Microsoft having complete control over Minecraft.

Yep this isn't going to end well.

There are a lot of upset people about this plus, if the Xbox One DRM uprising is any indication, there will be a lot of upset fans if they screw up and I am afraid the PC crowd is much less forgiving than the console guys. A lot louder too, when it comes to making noise!

What's worrying here is that they expected MS to make the money back by the end of this fiscal year, which is.... not a lot of time.

Microsoft's investor relations release not only acknowledged the $2.5 billion price tag, but said it "expects the acquisition to be break-even in FY15 on a GAAP basis." Microsoft's fiscal year 2015 ends June 30, 2015. The acquisition is expected to close late this year.

Microsoft could port it to C# which would run faster (C-based language + DX12) would make the game run smoother. Also their experience with servers would be helpful to hopefully stop stuttering/lag during online play.

But I also wouldn't want to see ads in my game I paid for... See: Skype.

porting to C# will never happen because of modding community .

Done. What do you want to know next ?
