Whats liquid platinum?

So while im out my step-dad goes into a computer shop and the guy tells him about this "liquid platinum" supposedly. Apparently its this stuff that goes on cables to stop static and costs £300, the computer guy told my step dad that he would do it for free on my rig! When my step dad told me I instantly thought he meant thermal paste as soon as he said "liquid platinum". Please help me with what it is. Thanks

WHy would you need to worry about static on cables? they're already protected, you would worry about static on motherboard or graphics card instead...

Liquidized platinum? That sounds ridiculous though. Platinum is a metal, a "precious" metal and I'm pretty sure it's a conductive one at that. A friend of mine had to have platinum infused in his lower jaw to prevent one of his tendons from tearing and they warned him that it was highly conductive.
