say what you will but that projector is the most original and actually useful thing sony has come up with so far, if the color reproduction is above the normal TN panel, that's a killer proposition for a uber high end multimedia set up

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

It's a Tri-Layer SXRD Panel. Great Black Levels. Also, the laser has a great lifespan and warms up to 2,000lm in under 2 secs.

Correction. It's a SXRD panel. Of Sony's design. Because the laser is quite bright. It combines multiple pixels to get more colors and textures.

I would love to see one of these in real life.

Also, the internal audio is great. The entire thing is Aluminum but, the speaker bays are solid wood for better sound.

For slightly over 1/3 the price of the short through projector, I would rather get their $14k 4k projector: http://store.sony.com/4k-home-theater-es-projector-with-200-000-1-contrast-ratio-hd-upscaling-zid27-VPLVW600ES/cat-27-catid-All-Home-Theater-Projectors?_t=pfm%3Dcategory

I don't think $50k is worth the asking price of that all in one unit, and this is coming from someone who loves Sony A/V equipment.

Edit: and the projector has the same SXRD panel.

But the Ultra Short Throw is also a very very upscale furniture piece, and premium audio system.

And the Short Throw does not have a laser lamp.

The SXRD panel in the Ultra Short Throw is a triple layer. It's a new panel.

Yes, but for someone who already has an audio system and way nicer furniture, I don't see the proposition value in it.

Yes, the laser lamp is an added bonus, but not worth the extra money (yet).

But, still the furniture, and audio system is not worth the extra money, in my opinion.

How do you get nicer than a 50K table?

Brushed Aluminum with Gloss white paint and glass.

Also Laser is very bright, lasts a very long time, and warms up very fast.

For the audio, I did not say it was useful, but you are not getting ripped off. (A ton)

Clearly people that would be buying that would already have something much, much nicer than a BMW in the driveway.

I buy all my furniture from Plummers Furniture: http://www.plummers.com/

Go browse their catalog then get back to me. Also, I am personally not a fan of brushed aluminum (bare). If it was black anodized, I may reconsider. All of my furniture is modern/ contemporary with mixtures focusing on leather, stone, and wood accents.

As for the audio part, I have what most consider a high end setup with Klipsch balanced speakers. Along with my 7.2 Onkyo receiver.

So far, personally the only thing I can actually benefit from is the super-short throw distance, the triple layer display matrix, and the laser light source. Unfortunately for me, it won't be replacing my Sony 1080p 3d projector. I can't justify spending $50k for a projector over my current vpl-hw30es, which has served me extremely well.

That being said, others may like the aesthetic, but that doesn't justify the absurd price.

TVs? Eh, w/e. IDC much for sony, I respect what they have contributed to the tech industry, but I don't really like any products they sell.

EDIT: Except the PS2. and Planetside 2

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)
