That is nice and all but if you wanna go cheap on X99 like I do this is way too expensive.

I like how you use cheap and X99 in the same sentence

You can build a sub-$1000 system around X99 assuming you recycle a case and/or monitor. You're just limited to 4GB of 2133 RAM :P

They say its not an overclocking board.. does this mean that it won't do well overclocking, or simply that it just doesn't have all the extra fancy overclocking features that say the ROG boards have?

I'd assume with good cooling you'd still be able to do at least a small OC on it..

Cheap for X99 is what I mean. £150 for a mobo would be nice.

You'll spend around $1000 on the CPU, motherboard, and RAM alone, and if you go x99 you might as well get 16GB. Granted Nvidia seems to be stalling on Maxwell so I might shell out $1000 around black friday to get this stuff ready for my next build. Plan on going all out on the CPu and motherboard and hopefully I won't need to replace them for a long time.

Thicker PCB with more layers (which makes the board more expensive, but also more durable)

Eh all black is boring. The accents on this are really well done though.

Hahahahaha, your funny.

Seriously, all black boards are the best. It makes life easy when you want to do a build with a specific color scheme because they go with anything and don't stand out.

A few years ago it was like this:

Asus - Red

Gigabyte - Green, Orange, other weird colors

MSi - Blue

Asrock - Yellow, Silver, other weird colors

Okay! Looks like I'll buy an MSi board for my blue/black themed system!

Then it turned into this garbage:

Asus - Red and bright freaking Gold

Gigabyte - Red

MSi - Red, and some Yellow

Asrock - mothaf***ing rainbow (but they kind of suck so who cares about asrock)

Ohh you want a high end board that is <insert color other than "Gaming Red">, well too bad, because we only make red!

Dammit, all I want is a blue/black board.

They're not the best, but they are far from sucking.

Well, compared to the big three they aren't very feature savvy, but they are good boards. EVGA price gouges their boards and some of them have poor QC. Intel makes top notch boards in terms of reliability, but they are not feature savvy and are expensive as hell. Everyone else just sucks.

THAT IS 100% PORNOGRAPHIC.

First E-ATX board that might win me over. And thank god it's WS tier.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Umm, Asrock is the biggest innovator right now with Ultra M.2. They're Asus' old engineers who had a beef with the company's customer service, broke off, and went their own way.

4GB of 2133, MSI Krait, 5820k, 750TI, Seagate 1TB HDD. Complete system with enough to buy either a monitor or a case and recycle an old one. Not saying it's a great system, but that is a full X99 system under $1000.

The board of our master has arrived

And so GabeN has told us to march forthith unto the Land of Holy welding our swords of mice, shields of keyboards, and helmets of Oculus Rifts where we shall reclaim it-which is rightfully ours-from the PUNY Console Peasants from whom armed only with mere controllers we shall decimate in all forms of battle and we shall dominate even in their most ridiculous tradition and infatuation of CoD. Yes, my brothers- sisters and trans sexuals too- we shall destroy the inferior of races with our might and majesty. And if any Peasants wish to join us they must speak now or forever perish. -Ancient Speech from a Leader of Old, Book of Murratri section 2

4GB of RAM on a X99 platform???? What the hell are you smoking? 4GB is never acceptable, especially when you have a CPU catered to professional work. Besides, I don't even think they are making 4GB kits for DDR4. On top of that a 5820k won't provide any real benefit over the 4790k other than giving you more PCI-E lanes to work with, and will be outperformed by next years flagship LGA1150 chip (it always happens). The 5820k and all is predecessors are for people who need something cheap, but also need to utilize a million PCI-E lanes, it provides almost no performance gain over an equally priced LGA1150/1155 chip. This was true with the 3820k and the 4820k

Yeah but their boards are more of an eye soar than Asus' gold boards and no one really cares about m.2 They are limited, not compatible with many boards, small in capacity, expensive, and are going to be outperformed by SATA Express and PCI-E SSD's.

I didn't say it was a GOOD system. I just said it was a technically complete system. Also, check out pcpartpicker. 1x4 sticks are available. And the 5820k does have a core advantage. Broadwell and sky lake are staying at 4 cores on mainstream.

M.2 is not limited in size, is not out-performed by SATAe (which is going to die purely by virtue of its size, and it is on equal speeds with PCIe SSDs as long as the lane count is the same. You're on crack to think otherwise. The form factor is also highly desirable because SSDs last longer when warm (don't ask me why) but GPUs need air space for cooling.

The way M.2 is out on motherboards you are limited to shorter PCB's which limits capacity to a degree. PCI-E drives are better because many of them have a RAId card on them and run some form of RAId such as RAID 0 or 10, allowing them to achieve insane performance numbers upwards of 2GB/s The PCI-E cards that act as pass throughs do suck, I will agree. Also, adding a m.2 slot on the motherboard limits the space for other things on the board. I'll stick with my 840 EVO.

Did anyone else feel a drop in air density as JJ started inhaling to prep for the marketing?
