Oh, oops. Still, who really needs/can afford 2 M.2 slots right now? No consumer really buys more than 1TB of flash for a system.

Dual 500s maybe, it would be something insane and I'm not even sure you can have dual M.2 slots on a board

See Asrock Z97 Extreme 6. You can.

 

Still, I don't think the PCIe bus can actually handle that/I think the CPU can actually bottleneck a RAID0 pair of M.2 SSDs at full speed specs (which we're nowhere close to right now).

Even with a bottle neck if it can beat quad raid zero 240gb drives (as in high performance one) that are on a raid card then. I would be ok with that seeing as that is the configuration that I'm shooting for atm

Contributes nothing to performance and adds cost, this is a WS board and something like that is unnecessary here. Maybe as an aftermarket part it could be a good idea, have it setup in a way that it works on all boards.

You can't possibly tell me that a thin sheet of aluminum is a massive addition to the cost.

I'll take cost savings on things that don't matter for the product wherever I can. If i could have this board with no onboard audio if it meant getting more usb ports/ethernet or a price drop i would take it. An aftermarket accessory would be a more likely solution

Distributors haven't received these boards yet. Not even Newegg business even though they list it. (They must have sold their preview units, derp)

 

So this thread remains relevant for watching for news about availability, because literally everyone is waiting for this messiah board.
