it suppose to work only with X99

 

it wont work on the X79

we dont know for sure

 

we only do know its has 28 PCI-E lanes vs the 5930k 40 PCI-E lanes

 

so it an indicator it may be a quad core

It's a hexacore, shops won't specify the corecount on some rumors.

Be realistic; people aren't going to pay 150-200$ just for a 300MHz higher clock. It's logical theyre nerfing the number of pcie lanes otherwise the 5930K wouldnt make any sense. 28 lanes is enough, you can have 3 way SLI and a soundcard/raidcard
