Do you think that 4k 21:9 will ever happen

So i decided today that i wont upgrade my monitor until 4k gpus are a common thing( so prob 3-4 years, when i upgrade my gpu) and i am a fan of widescreen or 21:9 monitors as they are more immersive imo.

So i think that 21:9 4k could be good for me.

Is there anyone else that thinks a 29" 4k 21:9 monitor could be great, and take off, i just hope that my that time ips could be developed to 144hz and 1ms response.

It's called 5k and there are already tvs that use it.

They are 105" and cost $120k

4K 21:9 won't happen for a long time, probably. Would love to see one though.

Thing is, with 21:9, it can't have a 4K resolution, since it isn't 16:9 like normal 1920x1080p Monitors, it would then have to be an offset 4K. But I assume they will come around. But 21:9 monitors aren't that popular.

You could probably buy a couple 21:9 panels or 16:9 and use eyefinity or Nvidia surround it'd be cheaper you could probably get higher resolution as well.

No. There is 0 demand for that. 4k monitor sales are already extremely low compared to 1080p since very few people have hardware powerful enough. Then 21:9 monitors are also very uncommon. Also 5k is very non-standard and the only thing you would be able to do with a display like that is browse the web with extremely tiny text.

true but for gaming a 2x2 monitor setup isnt that good, it puts your crosshair in the middle of bezels, but dam dem no scopes

yes but 4k sales are going up, for the average consumer it may not be best as most people are still on 1280x768.

But did all this not happen on the jump from 480p to 1080p or 720p, 21:9 may not be popular but many like it, there will eventually be a 5120 x 2160 monitor

in 3-4 years there could, 1 card can play 1440p well atm (290x) so in a few years a 4k card could com around

It's already a thing; Just a small and hard to use thing... And I that(the part I quoted) is nearly impossible because of the way the panels work and quite frankly IPS should just die if you want good viewing experiences there's better panels IPS if anything is holding back technology at this point we should have TN and VA or PLS or MVA ect...

For movies maybe but TV shows...not so much. Most TV shows these days are filmed in 16:9.
