So I'm watching the live stream, thought I'd update you guys on the R9 285. Keep in mind my memory is terrible, so some of these points could be wrong.

At 1440p, it performs 15% better than a GTX 760.

It has a TDP of 190w.

It's $249.

Whaaaaaaaaaat

waffle waffle waffle on and on and on

so it's 15% better than a card which is over a year old?

wow. great job AMD.

its pretty bad comparison, but yeah, 15% better performance for same price.

but a year later. nothing breathtaking

i wonder when will nvidia drop prices on 760 :P i bet my profile picture place they wont do it for 2 months, starting now.

any bets?

Don't really understand the drop in vram though, especially with newer games taking advantage of 3 gig cards for 1080p

I was actually expecting it to be a bang for the buck card - a new one.

Time for Nvidia to show they're hand. Hopefully a GTX 870/860 that doesn't disappoint will be great.

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

It's also a lesser card than a 280x, and god knows what a 280 is.

280 = 7950.

So its probably somewhere between a 280 and 280X.

However you still get less Vram, which i dont understand...

I dont realy understand the point of the 285 card, the naming is way to confusing.

The biggest question will be, how much better does this tonga gpu perform then the Tahiti-Le
