DXracer D-Series Review - Warning Large Images

Matsy

First of all excuse the picture quality, don't have anything better at hand.

Just had my new chair delivered directly from DXracer.

Ordered on Wednesday afternoon arrived Monday morning, pretty good for getting delivered from Poland to the UK.

Packaging

Came in a small box from what I expected.

I can tell they have done a very good job ensuring nothing is damaged in transit.

Opening the box up we find that everything is nicely packaged and wrapped for a safe journey.

Everything protected by a soft foam material and wrapped in heavy duty plastic wrapping and neatly arranged in the box so everything fits and nothing moves around

Top marks for packaging

The Chair

Taking a look at the individual parts.:

Backrest:

IMG_20140811_121507_zps8431b260.jpg

The backrest is made very well and is super padded for extra comfort while leaning back.

Also has great stitching

IMG_20140811_125825_zps1821879a.jpg

Bottom seat:

The bottom seat is of the same quality, good padding on the bottom, very nice stitching all around and adjustable arm rests which are padded and move up and down to suit your height.

IMG_20140811_121519_zps095b9960.jpg

Base:

The base is nothing fancy just a simple metal base

IMG_20140811_121528_zps902b4503.jpg

Assembly

The required alan wrench/screwdriver comes included with the chair and there are no other tools which are required to put the chair together.

Instructions are easy to understand but not really needed unless you have never seen a chair in your life.

Putting the chair together was simple enough, just bolt the bottom mechanism onto the bottom seat with the included heavy duty screws

IMG_20140811_123612_zps9514897f.jpg

Put the piston into the hole and push the base ontop and flip it over

IMG_20140811_123653_zps9bfa3947.jpg

IMG_20140811_124330_zps17bacb60.jpg

Then align the back rest to the metal attachments and bolt it into place with the including screws which are pre-attached.

Everything lined up well and I put the chair together myself in around 10min with no difficultys as you don't need to force anything into place, everything just fits and is actually built for the chair.

IMG_20140811_125313_zps9390e0a4.jpg

Then its just a case of attaching the plastic side covers (which are made of a thick plastic and don't bend much), no need for screws as they just clip onto the screws of the chair for a snug fit.  Its nice these are actually designed for the actual chair and fit perfectly.

IMG_20140811_125803_zps4350937b.jpg

The arm rests are thick and padded, much better than thin ones which usually come on other chairs with this type of arm rest.

IMG_20140811_125859_zps54771863.jpg

During the assembly I could already tell that this chair is basically metal with padding, as the base is quite heavy.  All together the chair is very secure and doesn't

wobble or make any sort of noise while spinning/standing up/sitting down which is a big bonus coming from chairs which squeak and make all sorts of noises even on the slightest movement.

The fabric is made of a very soft and smooth PU leather which excellent stitching.

You also have the height adjust and the rocking motion on the bottom mechanism which work very nicely along with a Resistance knob which lets set the rocking of the chair to what sensitivity you prefer

Final product:

This is the chair all built and ready to go.

It tilts all the way back if you decide to go to sleep or your girlfriend/wife has had enough of you

IMG_20140811_131443_zps340ef3f2.jpg

The chair is very comfortable, and hugs your back so you are sitting in the correct posture.

The cushions are soft (headrest and lumbar support) if you choose to use them, I don't like the lumbar support as the chair already has a slight curve at the bottom which acts as lumbar support.

The chair is quite expensive for a chair, but you get what you pay for and its defiantly worth the money.

I can't think of a chair which would beat one of these in price and quality at this price and that is going to last a very long time due to the quality construction.

The chair also comes with a 2 year warranty on parts and lifetime on the frame itself.

They come pre-attached but you can take them off by unscrewing the bolts on the bottom.

So as none of the reviews ever mention this: How is it setting in during this hot summer for 7+ hrs as it's PU Leather?

I've bought one PU Leather chair for 2000 NOK (240 euros) and the chair was uncomfortable as hell if i used it for more than 1 hour at a time.

Well I've been sitting in for almost 2 hours now, and its perfectly fine, its still pretty cool to the touch apart from where my ass has been.

Sitting in shorts and my legs are not sticking to the fabric at all, its like I just sat down in it.

I use an IKEA Markus chair at home.

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20103101/

And i've never really understood chairs like this DXracer. It's double the price and looks like it does't do any better of a job providing back support. Also the back is mesh on the Markus so it's not prone to getting too warm in summer. Oh and it has a 10 year guarantee instead of 2.

I've tried a Markus before, Its nice, supports your back and everything, but It just didn't do it for me.

I like the Dxracer as it has back support and also hugs you so you cant lean, it forces you upright into the perfect posture.

Also I found the Markus back support too much and sticking into my back.

Its going to vary from person to person.

The DX is expensive yes its aimed towards "gamers" so its going to carry a premium price tag much like razer products etc.

The frame on the DX has a life time warranty though.

Do you have air conditioning? if so then that explains why you are so comfortable during summers for long hours. Also what is your room temperature.

Sent from my Nexus 7 (2013).

I've always wanted a chair like this, but I was hoping for a lower premium.

hhhhhhhhhaarrrrrrrr! yo, Matsy. I post as esoteric at OcUK ;)

Certainly seems to be tidier than an AK Racing chair in build, but the cusioning doesn't look half as good as the AK. I'll deffo go for the AK Premium first, OcUK will look after me if it's shit, and if so I'll go for the DX.

The padding on the AK is better on the backrest (although the padding was in useless places).

The seat is pretty much the same, just the texture / design is different.

The AK was certainly built for comfort first though.

I certainly feel the dx has a much softer PU leather though, feels nicer.
