PDAs - For or Against

For the innocent among you, PDA refers to public displays of affection.  There are varying degrees of it around us in public.  Some displays are rather benign, while others are more in your face.  

 

 

 The argument for them is that no one forces anyone to look at the couple displaying affection, but it can still be hard to avoid.  But what say you all?  Does seeing it annoy you?  Or does it depend on how "intense" the display is?

 

Right now I am in a coffee shop, and there is this middle aged couple in front of me rubbing on each other and nestling close.  I can almost taste the bile, but then my own personal preferences for those things are to keep them private.  But that is probably just a personal quirk that I don't want that stuff shared with the world.

 

Also, it seems to annoy me less if the couple is either very young or much older (and clearly married), I don't have a rationale argument as to why, because there probably is none, but there it is.

I am not a prude, so I would say I don't care so long as they aren't literally f**king in front of me.

you know, most start out harmless but afterwards it makes people feel awkward, especially when it gets too "fancy" & there are children around <_< so, i don't know.. :huh:

i don't care what consenting people do with eachother as long as I'm not being violated

 

If I'm in a nice restaurant or something formal and people are groping each other next to me, i'll feel uncomfortable. but other than that I don't see an issue.

It's not jealousy for me, the couple in front of me right now hugging on each other and kissing and embracing are middle aged.  But they are chatting like they are high school kids.  I'm not jealous of that, but it does irritate my sensibilities.  I remember having a roommate with a boyfriend, and I specifically gave them space when he was over because I did not want to intrude and be around those displays.  I just have a sense that that stuff is for THEM to see and experience, not everyone else under the sun.
