Tech tip - Do your research before buying something expensive.

Have a friend who bought a Quadro 5000 for $2000 and 3 4k monitors.  Plays at 1080p of course.  I should probably also warn him about his cheap 900w psu...

create a new folder on your desktop named "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}"  to have access to all control panel options in one place organized in a way that actually makes sense.

this works for windows 7 and windows 8, so you dont have to go hunting for all your settings. which can be a pain in the ass on win8

Restarting fixes all problems. Huehuehue.

You don't even need to do a full restart for most problems. Once the OS begins to shutdown, cancel the shutdown process and it should still fix most issues. Although some 3rd party drivers also shutdown and so this can be a small issue. For example my mouse relies on a Logitech driver for proper scroll wheel functionality and so I need to manually run the Logitech software if I do the restart/cancel trick.

I just put this in there for completeness.

Shift + Home highlights everything from the cursor to the beginning of the line, while Shift + End does the same for everything from the cursor to the end of the line in a text editor.

Shift + arrow keys highlights individual letters

Shift + Ctrl + arrow keys highlights individual words

I got a SATA drive on IDE and it's actually pretty fast, to be honest.

NEVER buy the most expensive cable no matter what.

Especially diamond plated HDMI cables

'Diamond plated'

It just struck me... How exactly do you plate something with diamond? I am familiar with electroplating, but I've never heard of plating a metal with a nonmetal...

have worked for applecare, can confirm. also if you tell them your mac caught fire, or burns to the touch, it will get you to a "senior advisor" faster than actually troubleshooting

Don't over tighten screws or you'll either make them un-removeable or break the screw and have a dead hole requiring it to be tapped out and resized.

thumbscrews for everything.
