physX is about the worst reason to choose one card over another.

PhysX, Cuda, but mostly NVIDIA Shadowplay.

PhysX <- Worthless only like 5~10 games support it...Plus Mantle has it's own solution or you know your CPU can do physics

CUDA <- only select video editting progams use it and it detriments open CL performance

ShadowPlay <- GAME DVR, FRAPS, ect there's dozens of replacements...

is it really worth paying for a 770 when you can pay less to get a 290?

PhysX is worthless, true. CUDA does what it says, It's great. And nothing can replace Shadowplay. Totally zero peroformance loss and you don't have to record the whole thing.

And I don't know where you see a 290 is cheaper . 770 - 389$    290 - 499$

All the 290 I see are 4gb.

There's an 8GB 290x variant, except from that all 4GB :P

PhysX is just a bunch of bullshit. The only thing I would consider for NVIDIA is their ShadowPlay because AMD's Game DVR sucks balls.

What's DVR?

This is good. i give you pat on the back. There are many crazy people in the world and the first step to staying safe from these crazies it to never give out more information than what is needed.

Oh ok, because I'm in Canada and usually the prices are the pretty the same as in US. So here, a 4gb 290 is way more expensive.

Having tried it, I am a big advocate of Dxtory+Algarithmlossless codec, no performance loss (said specificly performance loss, not fps loss, magic). Idk but that's my results.

The above way does record in higher quality, but it takes much more memory so you dont want ot have videos roaming without being rendered.

and no, it doesnt do everything shadowplay does and vis-versa.

Was on Dxtory before to with that codec and Shadowplay is doing better for me.

Have you made sure there is no storage writing speed bottleneck?

xD I know it's particularly important when you're trying to avoid specific people.

Nope xD currently I'm not on the same continent.   xD however I just left the US a couple months ago...

Agreed, not many games use GPU accelerated PhysX while most have PhysX feature that can be offloaded to CPU.

Get the GTX 770.  Play games the way they were meant to be played.  Why would you want something inferior from AMD?  PhysX is awesome.

And look at this list and notice ...

Witcher 3 is getting GPU PhysX!
