Is PhysX worth getting the 770 over the 290?

Glenwing

Hmm a physics engine over a 290? No. Mantle can offload physics to the GPU so you're just dealing with better looking physics thats it.

No way, 290 is a more powerful card, if we were comparing a 770 to a 280X it'd still be questionable if the 770 was worth it.

I would say no. 290 will outperform the 770 in any game. I wouldn't trade that for a feature that only a handfull of games have.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_hardware-accelerated_PhysX_support

the above list shows the games which have PhysX support

not even recent game titles use it

so yea

not worth getting the GTX770

the 290 will blow away the GTX770 in all games

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

PhysX is just a bunch of bullshit. The only thing I would consider for NVIDIA is their ShadowPlay because AMD's Game DVR sucks balls.

I like physx, I enable it on everything except Metro Last Light, and it functions perfectly on my AMD card, probably because my CPU is rendering it xD. Admittedly Metro Last Light is laggy with it on when I'm in foggy areas, and XCOM The Bureau's physx lags, but when most other games use it (BL2, Metro 2033, Arkham City) it's quite nice.

Not many of the games that I play support Physx so for me I would get the 290 as I would prioritize performance over features.

No. Paying more to get less? It's technological suicide.

No. But I would  pick NVIDIA over AMD anyways.

Why?

Allot of those people that claim Physx is god's gift to PC gaming also don't even  seem to understand that they dont even play any Physx games ... that is unless they are still playing Mafia2 to see the coat flap around ridiculously or Batman games, BL2 LOL. Very few games even have Physx.
