PC for my dad, what do you think?

Realseppy

My dad needs a new pc. He uses his old machine every day. He doesn't play games or edits video.

Goal: Silent and fast pc, which still works in a few years!

What do you think of this? :) :

Case: Fractal Design Define R4

Mainboard: MSI Z87-G43

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670k

CPU-Cooler: Be quiet! Shadow Rock Slim

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 2,5" 250GB

HDD: WD Green WD20EZRK, 2GB

RAM: G.Skill DIMM 8GB DDR3-1600 Kit

Power supply: Be quiet! Pure Power CM L8 - 430W

I am planning to use the onboard graphics!

IMO an i5-4670k and a Z87 motherboard are way too overkill for daily use and web browsing.

I'd go with an i3 instead of an i5, and I'd get H87 or H97.

@Deadzz, gFrenken97 thank you thats defnitly an better option!

@Speedbird I like it to be as fast as possible ;)!

@YoyiSkill My thoughts behind such a fast setup were that he is using like 100 Programms at once. And to be honest for my dad the little extra money is not the problem so i thought it will last longer.

As fast as possible? You don't need an i5 for daily tasks. A Pentium or i3 will be good enough. Also, get H87 or H97.

You might want a bigger hard drive... Unless you made an error and want a 2TB WD Green.

@Sonefiler: This is case is super quiet and has great cable management!

@Speedbird Okay then i go with an i3, thank you! :)

You're welcome. This advice came from an i3 user - I have 2 PCs with first gen i3-550s.

@Speedbird I think 2TB is enough, also because my dad has a lot of external hard drives

Even 1 TB should be good enough.

@Speedbird Yeah thats true, maybe even 2x 1TB in raid1

Maybe... Your dad probably doesn't need the redundancy of RAID, and you pay twice as much for the same amount of storage.

Instead of an i3, wouldn't one of the 20th anniversary Pentiums be a good idea? unless you're set on using onboard graphics in which case, yeah, you want an i3.

Get an S-Skew processor (i5-4670s or similar), and a passive cooler (Nofan Ice Pipe or similar), and a larger SSD (512GB), and no HDD, and a mATX case (Fractal Design Define Mini), and a mATX board (Some Gigabyte or ASUS thing), and a H or a B series Chipset, and a SeaSonic Power Supply (they have passive ones too), and a couple of Noctua or BeQuiet fans.

Compatible with Windows 95
