Does anyone else think the 3x monitors is kinda, niche.

So i love my 2 monitors, dont get me wrong, the work space and space to watch videos while i work on other things is great.

but 3 monitors, in surround would just kinda be to large for me, and i would find it hard to use i think, far to wide. For work usages i would prefer a 2+1 setup or a ghetto 4k setup with 4 monitors in a square.

Now for gaming, i think that for fps games, you want to move your head as little as possible, so i think a 29:9 monitor would be better that. Maybe in rts games the extra space might help and rpg games might be the best casual use for them and racing would be the best over all use for them but still i cant help but think that a single 21:9 monitor might be better.

Dont get me wrong, i dont have anything against them, and if i got one i would not complain much but i just cant help but think, how useful are they really?

I think 3 monitors at 23" in the sweet spot and I can manage that, but when you start doing triple 27" setups it gets too much. *Looks at Barnacules*

yeah 3 37" would be alot, i would flip them vertically, but even 23"x3 would be alot of side to side movement

Depends I use 3 monitors but not is the nvidia surround or whatever tried hated it dont use it but 3 monitors that are used independently I use them all daily I use to have 4 but it was just too much. Anyway at my old job as a TSS tech for university we all had 3 monitors 1 for altiris 1 for our ticket system and 1 for browsing. So there is defiantly real world purpose the gaming stuff aside.

I have a triple monitor setup. I would rather a single 4k monitor, but i dont have the money.

 

Many ask me what i could possibly use it for. Usually, i have netflix on one, SSH connections on another, and the center is used for general web use.

 

When i get into programming mode though, it is super nice to have. One for viewing the web interface, one for the main text editor, and the last for server-side debugging and a smaller text editing window.

 

 

The advantage for me, is to be able to spread out. That way i can absorb as much content as possible.

yeah i think that those are good a single 27" is fine but 3 is hard, i wish there was a good 1080p 15" monitor, seems weird right but if i had a nice 1080p 21:9 monitor and a auxiliary 15" monitor would be nice, even just my single 21.5" and 15" would be nice

29:9 monitors dont exist. Only 21:9 do.

Also unless it was a curved monitor the angles from the side would make the image look compressed.

A 21:9 monitor has a lot less screen realestate than triple 1080p

Its also easier to multitask with separate screens rather than a single wide one.

yeah i know for multi tasking 3 would be good, i find my 2 fine for that but gaming on 3, specifically in fps games i find it not that good

Not really sure why you would turn to look at side monitors in surround gaming if that's supposed to be the corner of your eyes anyways, so it's not really an issue.

i know what peripheral vision is but you cant help but flick quickly over unless you have been doing it for a while, also your eyes will flick over and you could lose sight of the thing your looking at

I've been using dual 23" 1080p screens for a while now. The center one is in landscape and the one on the left is in portrait. I don't think I'd like 3 landscape screens either. I have a 32" 1440p screen on the way and it's going to be the center screen with the two 23"s flanking either side in portrait. I won't have to turn my head too much as I have them at nearly 3ft away (I may push them right back to 3ft).

The trick is to learn to not move your head and stay looking forward. When you see something in your peripheral vision, train yourself to move your mouse instead of your eyes. Much faster and accurate
