Sub $1500, however one should be cautious because atm Sony basically owns all the 4k content in the world and their upcoming 4k player is only compatible with Sony TV's (confirmed)

Don't understand why a $5k TV has speakers in the first place.

If anyone is interested in whole sales, and manufacturing an enclosure. You can get a 4K 39inch for 304$ per monitor if you order 1000 of them.

(page has an error, it's a *VA panel not TN. The specs matches the characteristics of  a *VA panel, not TN.

Of course, you need to do an input circuit, image processing if you want to compete with actual TVs and monitors out there, and programming the interface and on screen menu. But aside from that, you can make like one of those cheap korean monitor.. and it's a certified panel!

Seiki, quality is not as good but to be honest for 1200 what do you expect. I mean Sony's one there starts at 5k, is it 4x the quality? I think not, I think not

Oh and yea, where is the content? Buy one for 1200 and you still have those bragging rights that every 4k owner wants (unless you are a massive nerd, then you are just cool :D)

For the near future the best provider of 4k content will be video games.

This looks very nice but 4k TVs are too expensive. Guess have to wait till 4k becomes more common before buying one.

I refuse to even entertain the product until the price drops below $1000. I would say when HD tvs came around that was some what a big deal but when cell phones are be produces with 1080p screens, what is stopping manufacturers for making a screen just a little bigger but with the same pixel density?
