How would they make that much?

I started out with a single 1070, which made $40 (translated from €36) in the first week on NiceHash.  No overclocking, no other nonsense.  I did shut it down for 8 hours on Tuesday, but apart from that it was running 24/7. $40 per week is around 160-170 per month, and that's a conservative number given that a month is actually close to 4.5 weeks.

Factor in the PC's electricity usage (193W from the plug while mining * 720h in a month = 139KWh.  At 0.20 per KWh = around $28), and you're still talking $130 or more pure profit for a single 1070.

That puts the 2 new 1070s at $260 profit easily, and the 1060 isn't that much slower really whilst costing considerably less.  Realistically with my 4 GPUs I'd be looking at $450-ish per month ... but of course that is at the current prices.  That's on NiceHash, so add 25-30% if I move to a pool rather than renting my rig's power to a company.

No way of telling how fast and how hard the whole market is going to crash, but even at $750 per BTC I'd break even before the warranty on the GPUs runs out.  At the current rate I'd have my investment back in little under 4 months and then it's basically free money.  So while I'm hoping that it either stays this crazy a couple of months or gets this crazy again at some point in the next 2 years, even if the market crashes this is probably a better investment than just leaving it in a savings account where it generates little to no money at all.

Not to be mean but it's gamers' desire for high-end cards that's making it hard for us miners to get cards.  You can play and have fun with an RX460 or a GTX960 just fine, all you need to do is reduce the resolution and/or graphics settings. ?

As for fun, I could have a lot of extra fun if I could get my hands on 580s instead.  The 1070 costs almost twice as much and generates less profit, so I now have much less money to have fun with.

Just kidding.  I do get the sentiment, but those cards generate over $300 every month at the current rates.  You can't expect people to just ignore that profit so that someone they don't know can play a game every now and then.

The store had plenty more 1070s (all Inno3D, 3-slot or watercooled though) and a bunch of 1060s, so it's not like I bought their entire inventory.

No matter how you look at it, it's still a dickface move that miners are buying so much that (for example) a 1060 6GB that used to cost 240 bucks is now working its way up to 300. And on that note, I'm going to have to do even more ghetto-engineering to keep this retarded 7950 alive while I save up even more money to get a goddamn 1060.

Thanks miners.

I was reading earlier that a lot of physical stores are liquidating their Vita related items because Sony has pretty much abandoned the platform.  There were pictures of 32 and 64gb memory cards for more than 50% off as well as the games being sold for dirt cheap.

I am going to start looking in some of these places to include lamestop to see about getting a larger memory card, because i am in the same boat as you.

thankfully a hacked PSTV can use an external USB drive in lieu of a memory card.  So i put most of the stuff on there, and the stuff i'd like to play on the go on the vita.

I didn't think anywhere in the US sold the 64GB cards?

I was going to grab one online somewhere.

I'd be curious how to do that to use a USB harddrive with my PSTV.  Too bad I can't ask here in the open.  ?

Isn't BTC worth more than $750 USD?  Or did it drop?

It's around $2600 right now.  That $750 is only the worst case scenario.  If it's that low I'd only get my investment back by the time the warranty expires.  (keeping electricity costs in mind of course, gotta factor those in too)

I still live at home (gotta save money somehow) so I'm not paying the electricity bill.  ?

So I can do whatever.

Question: what's a mBTC?

If you are on firmware 3.60 or below you are gold for doing it

if you are 3.61 or above i don't think there is a  way currently, though i may be wrong.

if you have never updated it, or only updated it a very long time ago then its very likely you are good on the FW.
Going to  message you with a website that talks about this sort of stuff.

Bare in mind that the PSTV is basically just a HDMI enabled Vita so the overlap in topics is near 100%.

That's the third season of Sailor moon complete (I even managed to get a certain online stores bonus item with my order), and I'm now going into frugal mode for the remaining purchases of this kind for the rest of this month and the next month.

I've also been getting as much liquid based coolant as I could to survive this little heatwave.

Hahaha! Thanks dude!

I've always thought the retro looking silver one looks better than the "space grey" one.

Before I purchase this one, I sold my desktop pc, sold my old macbook pro for like  900 us.

And bought this one. No regrets whatsoever.

Also I don't get why people complain about the new keyboard. For me it is flawless!

I was the type that use too much force when it comes to typing.

Now the keyboard is so responsive, I feel like I just have to touch it to type.

I really like it!

I got to use the keyboard to type out like 2 sentences and I didn't really like how loud it was, but I'm sure that if I owned one and typed on it a lot more I'd adapt and that wouldn't be as much of a problem anymore. But the responsiveness and feel of the keyboard... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I'll take me 50 of 'em.
