I posted this in PC gaming....

Bioshock infinite, Deus Ex human revolution, The witcher (1,2,3), Mass effect (1,2,3). Here is a few.

EDIT: Personally I would add Crysis 1, 2 and 3. And maybe even Risen 1 and 2 (3:rd one on the way)

Not all of these titles are purely story driven, but do have a decent storyline/backstory and are fun to play.

The Witcher series

Mass Effect Series

Dragon Age Series

Bioshock Series

Deus Ex + Deus Ex Human Revolutions

Guild Wars 2

Star Wars The Old Republic
Fallout series (Fallout 3 + New Vegas are the best to try)  <-- you get many choices to change the outcome of most missions/factions

Alpha Protocol (very under-rated game imo)

Metro 2033 / Metro Last Light  <-- very good storyline, based upon a book

Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic 1 & 2

Dishonored

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines

AMD Phenom II 965 C3 @3.8GHz / Scythe Ninja III / 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport / MSI 990FXA-GD65 / MSI R9 270x 4GB / EVGA 600W Bronze / Asus Xonar DG

I recommend The Walking Dead both season 1 and 2. Very story driven and gets you attached to the main characters.

Euro Truck Simulator 2. You follow the life of a struggling trucker and you watch him flourish as he advances in the trucking world and grows his company. A truly heart-warming story.

"How hard can it be?" - Jeremy Clarkson

"Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you." - Jeremy Clarkson

"There's an old saying that God exists in your search for him. I just want you to understand that I ain't looking." - Leslie Nielsen

BioShock series, Mass Effect Series, and Dishonored. I am sure there are more, but that is what I can think of on the top of my head.

Bioshock infinite is brutally overrated, its story based, but the story only comes into play in the last act, the gameplay is trash anyways, don't play it

The Witcher, Metro, Fallout 3,  Deus Ex, Spec Ops: The Line, Tomb Raider

Intel i5-3570K/ Gigabyte GTX 1080/ Asus PA248Q/ Sony MDR-7506/MSI Z77A-G45/ NHD-14/Samsung 840 EVO 256GB+ Seagate Barracuda 3TB/ 16GB HyperX Blue 1600MHZ/  750w PSU/ Corsiar Carbide 500R

From games I am currently playing I have to recommend you:

Brothers - A tale of two sons (XBOX controller for playing this is recommended as it is hard to control on keyboard because you play for 2 characters at the same time and on controller you use one analog stick for each character)

The Witcher 1 & 2

Divinity: Original Sin

I am enjoying all these games a LOT!
