I just killed my CPU

Only 7 years old. It has been trough most of my life... And now its gone.  

Today I tried over clocking Intel core 2 duo to 3.6 GHz. tried 1.5V and I didn't start.  tried 1.6V and I didn't start. Finally I tried 1.7. It boots up!  

I am staring in windows 7 start up screen, thinking I did it. The all the sudden BLACK SCREEN.  

Quickly I rebooted, but it was no use. I keeps trying and trying, restating the BIOS removing RAM. But I had to face the truth. Its gone now.

Specs: AMD FX 6300 @ 4ghz, Asus R9 270 OC, 8gb Corsair xms3, Cooler Master GX 550w PSU, WD 500 blue, Gigabyte  GA-970A-DS3

I really wish that we'd just make organic hardware already, that grows and adapts to the demands it needs to meet. That way, grannies' computers can be floppy sacks of organicness and the 12 year old Minecrafters will look like the guys that only do bicep curls, and the nerdy programmers will finally have justice, with their body-builder rigs that skipped leg day.

Resetting your BIOS.

(either via the mobo jumper or by reseating the CMOS battery; some mobos even have an in-built button for that,like mine)

 

Also,does it boot up at all?Even for just a second?Or is it fully dead?

Shouldn't have pushed the voltage further than 1.4...

He has revealed that he didn't know what CMOS was so I assume he just didn't know what he was doing.

 

To be fair to him at least he has learned at the expense of something very old and cheap.

Oh shit, I used to have a P3, (P2 even before that) but back then I knew nothing about hardware and was a child so I'd not have a clue what voltage my CPU was running at I just wanted to play Age of Empires on the PC. :)
