If they both have the same specs, I'd go with the Lenovo.  This is because HP fills their laptops with useless crapware and it's a pain in the ass to clean it out.

don't go for the hp one unless you want to have a furnace instead of a laptop in a few years down the road. the thermal paste they use is so so sucky!

My brother has the old version of that hp and actually it is not bad in terms of cooling but the build quality is nothing great.

No idea about the lenovo but I would trust it more than HP. Also I would try to find something with a better GPU.

If you go with the 720m you would be getting about the same performance as the Intel HD 4400 igpu so I would go with the 740m as it is 2x as powerful, are those the only 2 options you found? I wouldn't go lower than the 740m or the r7 m260.

yes, if you take care of it it will last for as long as you need it for, make sure it has a good ventilation and make sure it doesn't get too dusty because that is what kills these laptops.

If you look after them well, both will be just fine. But I'd get the HP cuz of the better specs. On that note, do you really need a laptop or could you not get a desktop instead, since you said the main use will be gaming.

Save your money and wait. Better than buying a so so laptop and then a so so desktop...
