[Leak] AMD Prepares Two Next Generation High End GPUs

If we simply scale the number of stream processors in the 290X to fit 500mm we get a GPU with 3264 stream processors which puts it ahead of the 290X by 16% and ahead of the 780 Ti by 9%.

AMD also recently slashed prices on the 290X from 550$ to 500$, which tells me they're readying this new card to slot it in at 600$, a faster and less expensive alternative to the 780 Ti.
Gigabyte Windfroce 490$

XFX Double Dissipation 520$

MSI Gaming 520$
Diamond IceQ 480$

VisionTek TurboDuo 450$

My family has always built with Nvidia and so I'm a bit confused. The R9 290x is supposed to be AMD's flagship, right? And yet you have some HD 7990 in that graph too... What is the difference between the HD and the R9 series cards?

The HD 7990 is a dual GPU card, like the GTX 690 & Titan Z from Nvidia.

It has two GPUs working together instead of one. In the case of the 7990 it's based on two HD 7970 (Tahiti) cores.

The R9 295X2 from AMD is based on two R9 290X (Hawaii) cores.

So the 290X is AMD's single GPU flagship, the 295X2 is AMD's dual GPU flagship.

Before AMD released the R9 & R7 200 series they had the HD 7000 series and the HD 6000 series before that, going all the way back to the HD 2000 series.

According to AMD the 7990 doesn't exist...

And why do they have the HD 8000 series in addition to R5, R7, & R9? They're so confusing!

They excluded the 7990 in the 7900 section because it's a dual-gpu card.

They either need to put everything from a series on one page or rearrange the page/category tree to explicitly label single vs double cards. God it's like Intel's home website (not Ark).

The 8000 series is OEM only. Nvidia does this as well, they list the 760 Ti for example, which is OEM only.

They also had a bunch of GTX 660 Ti's & GTX 660s with completely different specifications ( different number of CUDA cores, different memory interface sizes ) but only sold one 660 Ti version & 660 version in retail & the rest were OEM only,

Just like their product nomenclature.   :o

If it wasn't for google, no one would be able to navigate intels website.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

i'm looking forward to see the name of these gpu's, hopefully the name doesn't end up confusing people more with those names

Since 28nm is coming back they will have to use the last 4 numbers of 296-299 </end_sarcasm>
