Do you guys like Rap?

No, i'm not talking about lil wayne drake songs. I'm talking the real defining people of the genre. I'm into Wu-Tang, Luniz, Souls of Mischief, and anyone from TDE. I'm mostly into spiritual rap with a focus on lyrics than the over production of the beat. An example would be Kanye West, fantastic beats but I hate most of his lyrics, even his old work that gets praised. Ab-Soul, in my opinion, has "soul" in his rapping. He actually has some force behind his words. Now for those of you who don't like rap music and find that it's all about Pu**y, Money, Weed(A$AP Rocky), don't believe that what's on the radio is real hip-hop. The rap songs on the radio cater to those suburb kids that think they're hard. Now if you like songs such as YG's My Ni**a or any Drake song i'm sorry I offended you and this is completely my opinion.

 

Seeing how this is a tech forum I wanted to see how many people here enjoy rap. I grew up poor on the less than "fortunate" side of Silicon Valley and that was the culture there. 

 

List your favorite rapper as well.

 

Mine would have to be either RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan, Ab-Soul from TDE, or Dumbfoundead.

EDIT: I don't like the genre purely because it doesn't sound good in my opinion, I'd much rather listen to Rammstein or the legendary Mr Dio, Mozart and Beethoven

The only "rap" I listen to is the old school hip-hop. This new stuff in my opinion is not good at all. Had to type that lightly without stepping on toes.

I love MGK. so much. Only rap i really listen to right now. Because its not all about sex and drugs, but more about life. he does both and thats great. you can get pumped up, but his other songs are real. I would highly recommend him. 

 

wild boy for a hard as hell song, swing life away for the sad/slower song

 

not sure yet, but I listened to a couple kid ink songs.

Only listened to MGK on his BET Cyphers and I was pretty impressed because he held up with Tech N9ne.

hes a party animal now like any kid with lots of money would be, but his story is amazing. hes the first rap artist I really took interest into.

I don't like the typical rap. Some obscure songs are alright when they tell a true story or don't take themselves too seriously
