Should i get a 21:9 monitor?

spwath

Should i get one? It would be used primarily for gaming.

2560x1080, and i can get it for 320$

ITs the AOC 29 inch one (Q2963PM)

I would also have to get a new GPU too, like a 280 for 200$

I'd personally recommend them over 4k. I like having a wider FOV.

I'd recommend you save up for a wide-screen 1440p monitor. (3440x1440) Instead. I agree with all Linus's points on the 2560x1080 variant, it's just not enough vertical real-estate to work with.

I dont have 1400.

there is a big difference between 1400 and 500

Not enough games support 21:9 natively.

I should be studying.

Exactly, I think the only 21:9 monitor to go for is 3440x1440. 2560x1080 doesn't make sense to me. Your GPU budget isn't really enough for anything higher than 1080p ultra.

But its not wide

There are those 1440p 21:9 monitors that look amazing (like the LG one Linus reviewed) But they're over $1000........

Combines the best of both worlds :D

Sure it is. a r9 280 could run 2560x1080 high/med

Its not a bigger FOV tho.

I've seen videos of both played in 21:9, not sure if native or "perfect widescreen"/"widescreen fixer" used.

I was drawn immediately to 21:9 but I've decided saving for the 1440p 21:9 screens will be worth the wait. Hopefully when I buy (probably early September) the market will have some competition and lower prices :)

Get it, especially if you need more actual screen real estate.
