Want to remove sleep/hibernation options from Windows 7

flibberdipper

Right now my trusty old Dell (yes, the one named Deadly Dell in my signature) has Windows 7 Professional on it. Hibernate isn't supported on it, and I never use sleep. I was wondering if it is possible to remove the sleep and hibernate options from the shutdown menu deal (next to the button on the start menu that actually says shut down). Hope this makes sense, but I am super tired right now.

In the command prompt it's possible. I'll google it but someone will ninja me I bet.

You can right click on the startmenu and click properties and change it if that is what you mean

Would I be able to do the same thing for sleep, just replace /hibernate with /sleep?

Oh man I don't even use that menu anymore, just create a shutdown.bat and pin it to the taskbar next to the start button, one click shutdowns.

If you're worried about accidental click, move it to desktop above the start button then you have to show desktop and double click the .bat

use the command powercfg -h off

this turns off hibernation

I'm pretty sure there are some other things you can do with that program to remove and change your power settings.
