What are your guys thoughts on the Gran Turismo games? Do you like them and if so which in the series is your favorite? Or do you prefer other games like Forza? I recently found my old fat PS2 with Gran Turismo 4 and decided to give it a whirl. I also have Gran Turismo 2 running on an emulator on my phone that I play every now and then, so I was eager to check out the difference.

Obviously the driving physics and graphics were a huge leap, but there were a few things I noticed in GT2 that were actually more realistic then GT4. the "simulation" tires aside, the one thing I can pull off the top of my head is driving the Prius. As I own in real life a first-gen Prius, I tend to drive it in GT2 sometimes for fun. In GT2, the driving representation of the Prius is actually mostly correct. At the start of a race or when stopped the car sits with the engine off, and unable to rev. When releasing the accelerator the RPM drops to idle for a split second before going back down to 0, and if feathering the throttle, the car will go up to about 20mph on electric power alone (RPM stays at 0). All of this happens in real life and is represented in the game. It's also driven in the game by a close-enough CVT (actually a 1-speed automatic). In GT4 however, the Prius is treated like a normal car. The engine can be revved, never shuts off, and is paired to a regular 4-speed transmission. I believe in GT5 this was fixed, with the realism being added back in and more, to the point where apparently the car will drive decently until the battery runs out, then performance actually decreases due to the lack of electric assist.

As far as current titles go for the PS4/XBO I'm much leaning towards Forza, but looking back to 1999, GT2 was quite the amazing game. Squeezing all those cars and realism into a game at that time was really amazing and I still think it is, which is why it has to by my favorite.

Gran Turismo 4 is one of my favourite games of all time, me and friends spent many many hours racing each other around the Nurburgring.

After that (the PS3 ones) have been weak IMO, and GT is pretty much being steamrollered by Forza at this time in the console racing sim wars.

Dont remember what GT game was my first (think it was GT 3) but i did enjoy them alot used to play them whenever i felt like playing a racing game, i tried a few different series like Need for Speed, Forza, GRID, Sega GT, and some silly racing games like Hot wheels on Ps1 (played it alot though) But tbh i found GT to be the most enjoyable. and eh Need for speed was definitely the most boring among them =_=
Nowdays i have no energy to play "simulator" car games so ill stick to stuff like Mario Kart.

Played GT 3, 5, uh 5.5?`prelude whatever and 6

Im pretty sure i only had GT3 on ps2 and i loved it then i got gt5 prologue on ps3 obviously before gt5 actually came out which i liked but by the time gt5 actually came out my ps3 broke and this was the time i switched to 360 and got forza 3 which i loved then forza 4 which i loved even more and now forza 5 on xb1 which is awesome but sucks at the same time like the driving and the cars are awesome but the actual game like making money and dlc cars is just terrible also no market place which sucks i used to be able to get great deals on cars from there now i have to pay full price :( forza horizon 2 is going to be awesome i think forza horizon 1 was a good concept but the driving mechanic was to arcady :/ I also loved need for speed underground 1 and 2 back in the day but since then all there games have gone to shit and i hate them i really wish there was like a realistic racing sim based on street racing like forza 5 driving mechanic in need for speed underground 2 would be my dream game i love the customizability like neons, subs, rims lowered or air bags, exhaust tips etc.

Although i love the gran turismo series, right now its not as strong as it could be, i've played all games and except gt3, and there's something they left in gt4 and werent able to put in the game again which is the fun. Gt 5 and 6 are really good games but they get boring faster than the other games in the series.

What I think happened is that PD is a small studio and sony rushed then to deliver the games yo the ps3.. Both gt 5 and 6 looked very incomplete as of launch but at least they support the game with substancial updates and some free dlc, i dont see that happening to many other games.

Comparing to other games, its a bit weird that gt have ps3 and ps2 quality cars running together, and the sound isnt quite at par with other games, in my opinion the handling of the cars is very good, but if there is one very strong point to gt is the selection of tracks... It might not seem a lot at first but you got a really good repertory to choose from, and the tracks are beautifully done. If you ask me they might be the best in any racing game. Ive played forza 5 and although the game is beautiful very few number of tracks turned me off really bad.. I still have to test some computer sims, but from what ive heard assetto corsa and iRacing are really good.

I wish i could write more but its getting hard since im typibg on a phone.. Anyways, take a look at the new senna dlc, which included 3 cars he drove, track layouts for when he raced and challenges you to beat his fastest laps on each of them, i didnt play cause im not home but as soon as I gey there ill download and see how it is.
